We encourage and support children to play cooperatively and independantly helping them to grow in confidence and develop social skills developing a positive sense of themselves and respect for others.

Our book corner provides a comfortable area for children to have free access to a wide selection of books. The children are regulary brought together for story telling and are encouraged to listen and respond. The children enjoy circle time engaging them in singing and dancing.

Physical Development
Literacy
Our mark making table allows free access to a large range of creative resources and children are encouraged to explore their own creativity. They are encouraged to develop basic writing skills starting by helping them to hold a pen and progressing onto writing their name and understanding the letters.
Mathematics
We enhance the childrens understanding of numbers through activities including singing, rhymes and stories. Construction toys, puzzles and games develop problem solving skills and teach everyday mathmatics. Playing with sand and water involves measuring and weighing. All these activities ensure the children are developing their understanding of numbers and problem solving whilst, most importantly, having fun!
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
A safe, stimulating environment allows the children to explore and investigate the world around them. We help the children gain an understanding of seasons and weather, look at plants and animals and help the children gain an understanding of different cultures. Significant dates like Diwalli and Chinese New Year are highlighted and we take the children out and about in the local area to give them a sense of community.
Expressive Arts and Design
We encourage children to experiment with media and materials and help them to find out about their properties and how they can be changed. It includes exploring sounds, patterns, movement and different tools and techniques. This is about children’s explorations into the world of pretence, building on their experiences of the real world and transforming them into something new – whether through role play, music, pretend play, block play or small world play or a range of other areas.
